If any one breed of dog is deserving of the title "Noble with Natural Beauty" then that dog is the German Shepherd Dog. German Shepherd Dogs are extremely intelligent, loyal, powerful and have an incredible work ethic. Just looking at one gives the impression of unquestionable mental and physical strength.They come in many different colors and coat lengths (standard, plush and long).The difference between males and females is obvious in their size and structure. Males are larger and heavier boned and females are slightly smaller and look feminine. According to the GSD standard a difference between the sexes should be obvious. The German Shepherd Dog is an elegant dog that moves with great ease and is beautiful to watch. They command attention wherever they go.
The ideal German Shepherd Dog will be fearless, non-aggressive and alert. By nature a German Shepherd is wary of strangers, though once one is accepted by him he is a friend for life. The GSD is very protective of their home & family. This stems from their pack drive. The male GSD tends to protect their home area more while the female is not as concerned about her home area as she is the family. In fact the female GSD is very motherly with her human family and feels it is her job to baby sit. Although the GSD is usually portrayed as serious, they are actually really fun, happy; comedians that love to snuggle and think that they are eternal pups. All in all, the German Shepherd has tremendous drive and is a great family dog. He is an efficient obedience worker, quick to learn and what is learned will never be forgotten. It is an active breed and thrives on work—little is beyond its capabilities. Fleet of foot, powerful yet graceful and nimble, he is the epitome of those qualities considered to be ideal within a dog. He loves human companionship and will respond to his owner’s mood whether this be lying quietly by his side or romping across the fields; indeed, at all times, his one desire is to be with you and to please you.
The German Shepherd Dog has a keen sense of humor and enjoys playful games yet, in defense of those he loves, can become a frightening adversary that one would be well advised to keep clear of. He can fit into a flat or a mansion as the need may be, for he is happy wherever you are happy. In bringing a German Shepherd into your home, you are making an addition to your family and he will quickly feel a part of it. Your house, your garden, your possessions and in fact all that you own will from then on be in his special care. He needs your love, but he needs also correct attention to his grooming, exercise, food, and general welfare. Given these, your German Shepherd will devote his very life to you and you will be the richer for this and for the companionship and love you both will share.
At PJ's Home & Heart Kennel we research our lines & breed for health, temperament, confirmation, & longevity. All of our dogs are AKC registered from excellent, and most of the time champion and, or titled lines. We believe in total out cross breeding and make every effort to distance the bloodlines. We have raised 4 generations of our gentle giant GSD's. They are respected & loved for their wonderful dispositions, size, & beauty. They are what a GSD is suppose to be...fearless, non aggressive, alert, & protective!
